revalidation after 221(g)

i recently got back my passport from washington dc (H4 stamping), with the "cancelled without prejudice" stamp on it . and a 221(g). they asked me to send originals of my old I94(i had sent the new one that came with my extension and a copy of my old I94). anyway i sent back my ppt with both the I94 originals this time.
anyway, has this happened with any of you and can anyone tell me how long it will take for me to get the passports back this time ? originally when id sent it to st louis it took 3 months to get it back. now they askes me to sned it to Dc directly .

I am also in the same boat but I am on H1b.
After 3 month wait, I got back my pp with 221g.
I have resent the documents directly to DC. It's been a week.
How sure are you(far23), when you said it takes 2-3 weeks to get back the visa. Do you know of any such case. Ple let me know.

I have plans to go to India and I am soo waiting for my pp to be back soon.

By the way, art2004, can you pls post a reply when you receive ur pp.

Don't worry

I have been tracking the 221g dates for some previous users of this forum. It takes about 8-10 working days after they receive it.

In my case the passport was received by DC on 20th Jan and they stamped the passport on 30th Jan. I received it on Feb 2nd.

Looks like they are quite prompt about this.

Can I revalidate?

1) Can I send my ppt for revalidation if my last visa was a F1 (expired on 05/31/2000)
- then got H1B (I94 valid till 03/2004) and then transferred to another H1B (I94 valid till 04/2005)

- Can I send my passport for revals? Or do I have to go out of US to get a new visa?

Please explain.. Thanks!

Hi all,

I got my passport back today with the visa stamp.
It took 2 weeks.

So here are the details:

Sent to St.Loius : 10/21/03
221(g) Received : 01/21/04
Sent 221(g) to DC : 01/27/04
visa stamped: 02/11/04

And I got it back with a stamp today, 02/12/04

Yes, looks like they are very prompt with 221g s.

221g issues

I had a question to guys who have 221g

Does 221g specifically mean that H1b revalidation is denied?
If so,what is the procedure to reapply?

Can the stamping be done in Canada or Mexico?

I would appreciate your responses.

section 221 (g) refers to an application is being held because of adminstrative processing, in otherwords visa cannot be issued because lacking some thing in it, it could be document or information, prima facie.
if Dc issues section 221 ( g) letter, u have follow what has been stated in the letter.
yes u can apply visa in Canada or mexico, but if u r visa already expired, attorneys normally suggest to go to your home country, because in case of visa denial in mexico/canada the person will be stranded in that country
