Reusing Job Offer Letter for 2nd TN Mail-In Renewal.

Hi everyone,

Have a simple query that may seem silly but I wanted to know if anybody has done this.

I have my current TN expiring July 27, 2008. I will be mailing the I-129 shortly to renew for the same company, job title, everything is the same. I applied for my TN with this company in person at the Peace Bridge POE in July 2006, did the mail-in renewal in May 2007 and now need to renew again.

Is it feasable to use the exact same job offer letter that I used in last years I-129 package with the dates changed, or should I make significant changes to the letter? Silly question but just wanted to know if anybody has pretty much used the same template for a straight forward TN case.

Thanks,
John

If you were succesful last mail-in, no reason to change.

Many agree that a renewal letter should vary from a 1st TN letter, but a renewal is a renewal.

My mail-in's when I was with the same company, many differnet contracts, for a number of years were just rehashed with new dates and passed muster each time.
You "should be OK" with re-using your last letter. Make damn sure all the dates get changed and proof read it before it gets sent in.

Its kind of like a cover letter for a job application...you take the same text and tailor it a little for each application. I modified the same basic letter from TN through H1 through green card.

Don't mess with success. CIS is only looking for certain main components in the letter - job title, dates of employment, salary etc. Leave it alone or you get what you deserve by changing it.

Thanks a bundle, you guys are great. I'll leave the letter pretty much alone (though I will be sure to put the correct date on it haha).

Just had a couple quick questions about my I-129 renewal so rather than create a new thread or hijack another, I figure i'd post it in this relevant thread I created before.

1) What date do I put under "last entry to the US"? The last time I physically re-entered the US under TN status was June 23, 2007 when I returned from a wedding in Canada (a month before my border TN expired). On July 31, 2007 I recieved my Mail In TN renewal. Would I put the date I physically entered the US (June 23) or the date I recieved my mail in TN renewal (July 31)?

2) In last years I-129 mail in renewal (for my TN period July 2007 to July 2008) I put a copy of my visas page which showed the stamp from my initial border TN application (July 2006). Therefore the only TN stamp in my passport is still the one from my initial border application (July 2006). I do not have a new stamp since I haven't crossed the border in my latest TN term (July 2007 to July 2008). Should I put a copy of my visas page with my July 2006 TN stamp or do I omit that altogether since I do not have a newer stamp in my passport?

Thank you everybody,

John

-- Date of your actual entry into the US (not the mail-in renewal)

-- If they are asking for the pages in the form, give them again. If not, then don't.

It won't hurt to send a copy of both. The entry stamp from 2006 in your passport and the mailed in TN from 2007. Even though you didn't leave during the last TN period, and received your last TN by mail, some of these processors have a hard time putting 2 and 2 together.

Hey all, thank you for the helpful replies. Going through my TN paperwork and finishing up my I-129. Just have a couple, hopefully final, questions regarding some questions on the form.

As you may know by now, the following is my timeline:

July 2006 - TN application at Peace Bridge POE
May/July 2007 - Mail in I-129 / Recieve approval
May 2008 - working on I-129 renewal TN

My current application is a straight renewal as it was last year. Same job duties / employer etc. In part 4, question 8 it states:

"8. If you indicated you were filing a new petition in Part 2, within the past 7 years has any person in this petition:

a. Ever been given the classification you are now requesting? - No / Yes - Eplain on separate paper

b. Ever been denied the classification you are now requesting? No / es - Explain on separate paper
"

Since this is technically not a "new" petition (employer filed I-129 renewal last year) would I just say "No" to a and b?

"9. Have you ever previously filed a petition for this person? No / Yes - Explain on separate paper"

In question 9, I am assuming they are talking about a previous I-129 petition and not an "immigrant" petition. In question #9 I would assume I check "yes" and then attach a short two sentence summary saying that it was an I-129 TN petition etc etc?

Thank you for you help everyone, I appreciate it.

John
