Has anyone returned recently with the 551 stamp on the passport? Are you able to go through the US Citizens/Residents line? Do you have to go through secondary inspection?

I'm asking because I keep reading conflicting information. I'll be traveling through LAX or SF.

Thanks.

When I returned through SF with only the stamp, I went through the citizen's line, and there was no secondary inspection.

After I got my I-551 temp "stamp" in my passport from the consulate office --- I stood in vistors' line when I went to the airport the first time around. Once they processed me...this is when I officially considered myself a permanent resident. A week later, when I re-entered again from another trip, I stood in the US citizen/permanent resident line. No problems. Instead of asking me where do you live, who do you work for and what do you do?...they ask, why were you gone and how long?...music to my ears personally!!!

hope that helps.

Thanks guys. I'm a little more relaxed now. I hear that they often say "welcome home" or something similar. It will be weird, but cool, to hear that when re-entering the US.

don't worry

Recently I entered from LAX International Terminal check point, I stay at PR line, they split, Citizens/ Citizens and permanent resident/ visitors (3 major lines);the 1st immigration officer forward me to a special line for secondary inspection , during the time, the 2nd officer want to check and confirm the I-551 stamp on my passport is real, he asked some question , then put another little stamp right next to my I-551 , everything then ok and just took 3 mintues :)

Is I-94 still required when you have I-551 stamp on your passport? Thanks
