Returning to US after three yrs

I returned to India from US in Aug'2003 to take care of my sick parents and mother-in-law . I had a reentry permit which was valid from Aug'2004 to Aug'2006. I want to go back to US at this point. I have with me :
Green card
Employment offer from a US company
Income tax returns as a resident from 2003 to 2005
Bank acct/credit card
Documents supporting illness

From other related posts it appeared to me that I will have to apply for SB-1 visa. However the lawyer of the US company(who wants to employ me) told me that I won't have to apply for SB1 and I can go to US and face the IOs at the POE there.

Has anybody any experience on this ? Thank you in advance.
 
I would say that since you did not come back to the US before the expiration of your reentry permit, ( and apparently, you did not file for an extension ), you will have to apply for the SB1.
