Returning home on expired passport.

Hi,

I am a Malaysian citizen whose passport has expired in February. I would like to know if I can go home to Malaysia without any problems from immigration here or Malaysia on my expired passport. I don\'t want to renew my passport at the embassy here because I was told that they do not have the correct equipment to issue me a new passport. I am currently here on F1 Visa.

Yes, you will almost certainly have problems (at both ends) if you try to travel on an expired passport. I find it hard to believe that you cannot get your passport renewed remotely, or at least get some form of valid travel documents.

What does it mean, that they can\'t renew it "properly?" I think that you need to get tougher with them, and maybe get advice from someone familiar with your country\'s paperwork.
