Return ticket have to be of same airline ?

My mother has 10 yrs multiple entry visa.I booked one way ticket for my mother in british airways as i was not aware that return ticket is need for visitor(b1/b2) visa. can i buy ticket of different airline or does it have to be of BA only? she is flying tomorrow so any immediate answer is appreciated..

Not really, any airline would do. But booking same airline is cheaper (if booked together), if not others fine.. as long as there is a return ticket (confirmed). I have traveled before on B1 with different flights/routes..
