Return ticket date..urgent

My in-laws are entering US on tourist VISA. If the return tickets indicates the date beyond 6 months stay, will that be ok?

Please let me know ASAP as travel agent is issuing ticket today and there is penality for change.

my mother in law left 3 days after the 6th month ended, no problems at all. I am sure there is grace period, but don't know how long.

My question is, do we need to show the return date well before 6 months at POE? or any any date should be ok, until visitor has return ticket..

There is no grace period. Once you turn in ur I 94 it will show that you overstayed. On your next entry you should not be allowed in and withdraw your application. Of course your visa will be cancelled too.
