 Just wanted to know if one my parents became a US citizen by naturalizing in 1990, does that make the children autmatically citizens as well without the parent filing on their behalf? I was 12 or 13 at that time, and PERM RES. over 5 years. I have read the child citizenship act of 2000, and it states something about the child has to be under 18 by 2001, but it is not retroactive. Any information is very helpful.

If your parent US citizen spent 5 years in the US after becoming a US citizen, then yes, you derive citizenship from them.

You have to fill N-600 form and submit it with the required documentation.
