Friends, based on your experiences (who submitted FOIA) when can we expect any kind of reponse that they(INS) have received our FOIA request (or do we get any at all)?
Thanks in advance,
Satya.

6-7 months

I called up the 800 # for NRC and I was told that it would take somewhere between 10-11 months for the documents to be mailed to me. They told me that my documents were located and have been scanned digitally, but this delay is on top of that. Here are my details:

FOIA Application Mailed to VSC: 6/10/05
Application Received by NRC: 7/1/05
Letter Sent: 7/6/05
Called NRC 800 Number: 8/5/05

Thanks Luke..... for the information. Can you please give me the 800 number that you called? Is it different for Nebraska?

I think it is the same for all service centers. Whenever you send a FOIA request to any service center it gets forwarded to the National Records Center (NRC).

foia filling help

hi luke,
i have a some questions regarding filing FOIA.

1. what is the alien # mentioned in the form?? what number is this. i do not have any EAD right now . i am in h-1

2. what about the notary is it fine to get it notarized in the space provided in the application or do we have to send any extra letter or something.

3. what about the petition or claim receipt field? i might need copies of more than one document? labor, 140, ..etc...etc which one should i put here.

4. will they get back to you if there is any error in the application or if they reject it? cuz i do not want to sit and wait for 6 months hoping something will come when in fact USCIS has rejected the application because it was incomplete or had errors.
