Hi.
I graduated with a PhD in Anatomy and Cell Biology and I have got a residency position in Anatomic Pathology. I currently have an OPT(optional practical training) in Anatomy and Cell Biology.

The q I have is this. Can I join my residency program on the OPT. My hosp has applied for an H1B, but it will be several months before I actually receive it. Has anyone been on this situation and can anyone advise me?

Ar you in Pathology too? The only issue is that the OPT has to be directly related to the subject of your study. My PhD is in Cell Biol, but the res is in Path...closely related, but not the same, as one is considered "clinical" and the other is "basic science". Can this create problems when applying for a green card? Your input is greately appreciated. Thanks.

U and I know the difference. Its all same for INS. If asked during GC interview u can always be ready with a story saying how it was related. Drop the paranoia - Go ahead and join the residency.

Pls advice - to h1breceipt
