Rescheduling oath date

I got my oath ceremony scheduled on July 30th in Boston. I would like tp prepone to earlier date since I'm planning on a vacation to Europe on July 1st week. What are my chances and how do I do it? Should I take an Infopass and explain to the officer? Has anyone done it before and would you recommend it?

Thanks

You can postpone them, you will not decide on the date. You will just be put back into the poll and you will have to wait till they get back around to you. Some people have gotten a re-schedual within a month or two, others have gotten lost and haven't gotten another oath for over a year. So you take a chance with it.

Generally they won't give you an earlier date, it'll most always be a lot later. Remember they don't go by your schedual, you go by theirs...

I'm assuming that I've an option to keep my existing oath date when I talk to the IO. I hope they wont take away my oath sheet and ask me to wait for new on by mail. That would be a disaster.

I agree with what warlord said earler, but if it's not too inconvenient for you to make an infopass and visit your local DO, I would pay them a visit with my confirmed tkts and itinerary in my hands and talk to the supervisor. Since oath ceremonies are handled by the local DO, you never know they may be able to schedule you at an earlier date if u run into some nice officer there and ofcourse if they have room to squeeze you in. Giving it a try is not a bad idea at all. If it doesn't workout you still have an option to appear for your oath ceremony on July 1st (original date).

How many days do you want to go to Europe? As long as you come back for your oath that's fine, you can just update your trip in the oath letter. Other than that you can do as suggested, schedule an Infopass and see if you hit a jackpot. Yours would be the first case I could remember of rescheduling a ceremony to an earlier date. In general is a bad idea to make USCIS do things out of their regular process, there is always a slight chance that things can go to a black hole. However, it is also true that in most cases it works fine.

Well, I'm traveling around different parts of Europe, so it would convenient to have U.S passport than Indian passport. I'm going for 4 weeks. My oath date is July 30th, which is too late for my trip.
