rescheduling local interview

Hi folks

My wifes case has been xferred to the local office. Going by the timelines it may take quite some time before we even hear back from the local office. Meanwhile , my wife has to make a trip back to India for 4-5 weeks. Does the INS let you reschedule the interview in case you can't make it at the appointed time and date

Any information would be greatly appreciated. My company appointed lawyer does not even want to answer that as it is related to dependents case

Yes

But it is not a good Idea to reschedule it might take longer time to get another interview.

Getting thru to NSC is a problem and I haven't had a good experience with NSC IIOs. But I will give it a shot

It is possible to reschedule the interview though not recommneded, except for every serious reasons.

I believe the local office usually sends out the interview letter about 1-2 months in advance of the interview date. Since you are looking at a 4-5 week trip, you might be o.k. in that you could make arrangements for your wife to return back in time for the interview.
