We applied AP in VSC in Dec last year and file got transferred this year, because I-485 was transferred to the local office. Now we got a letter asking us to go to NYC office to see them next Wednesday.
-------- if it is Interview date for I-485 you can reschedule that date, you can write any valid reason remember if you reschedule I-485 Interview then next Interview date will take long, if it is for AP or EAD it does not matter write any reason and can visit next Wednesday or any other day, I think you can call up the NYC CIS office
There is no way that we can schedule that since we are not in town.

We wanted to reschedule the appoinment but don't know what is the good reason to put on the appointment letter.
------- Write them that it is not possible for you to attend the XYZ date due to preplanned trip. They are not waiting for any particular reasons. If it is for EAD or AP I don’t think they care, you can go when you are in NYC
