Reschdule Oath Ceremony

Hi all,

First time poster to this forum.... and I am somewhat glad that this is the first question I have to ask, as everything as gone pretty well so far.

I completed my interview two weeks ago, and already received a notice to appear in an oath ceremony early next week. However, due to personal and business reasons I am out of the country and would like to go to a later oath ceremony.

The letter states clearly that I can return the notice with a letter to request a reschedule. However, being out of the country right now I only have access to a scanned copy? Do I have to sign my letter of request? If not I can probably just have my family mail it in for me, otherwise, would there be any trouble if I have my family send in a scanned copy of the signed letter with the original notice?

While we are on it, any tips on how much my oath ceremony will get delayed?

Thanks!

Anywhere from weeks to years considering you don't get lost back in the system. This is why people say never delay the oath ceremony unless it's a life and death situation because no one will ever know how long it'll be delayed for until its too late...

Using a copy of your oath letter to request a reschedule shouldn't be a problem. Just include a letter explaining why you're requesting the oath to be rescheduled.
It could take anywhere form 1-3 months to get a oath rescheduled (depending on DO oath availability) provided of course that your request doesn't get lost in the bureaucracy.
Just remember that you'll have to declare your current travel time abroad and meet the continuous residency requirement up until oath day.

Thank you both for your quick reply. I am about to mail out a letter to the CIS but I can't seem to find the address of my DO. Should I just return it to the California Processing Center (address on the envelope which arrived with my N445)?
