HI,
I came to this country on H4 in December 2001. After 1.5 yrs I got a H1 (instructor in a business school). Have been on H1 for 3.5 yrs. Please note my H1 is not stamped on my passport (I have a valid I-94) My H1 is valid till December 2008, Although i have received extension upto Decmber 2007(need to apply for the remainder extension) Meanwhile, I got divorced and started studying (my second masters) Now, I would like to convert to F1. But, I have a few questions:
1) How much balance (liquid asset) do I need to show in my bank account? Is this in Indian Bank or U.S. Bank?
2) Do I have to go to India after I get my I-120 or can I remain in the country and complete my education?
3) If I have to go to India for F1 visa stamping, how much do I need to show in fixed asset???
4) Do I need to have Health Insurance all thru the period of F1 or is it enough if I show proof of Health Insurance at the time of applying for F1??
If there is any other information that I need to know, please post them in your reply.
Thank You,
