Requesting information on EAD renewal - Please

Hi,

I am in urgent need of 'EAD renewal' information. It will be really helpful if you can please reply with the information on this.

I am on L2 visa with a valid work permit (EAD). My L2 and my husband's L1 visa are expiring in Dec 2008(needs renewal). I need to renew my EAD by July 2008.

1. Will my EAD be renewed by USCIS when my L2 is valid only till December 2008?

2. If yes, till what date will my EAD be extended.
i. For another 2 years (as it happens with others)
OR
ii. For another 6 months (since my L2 is valid till December 2008)

3. How early should I apply for EAD renewal? I have got 2 different information-
a. 3 months before the expiry of my current EAD
OR
b. 6 months before the expiry of my current EAD

4. Is E-filing safe to renew my EAD?

5. If I go for E-filing, should I go for Biometrics?

6. Will the E-filing + Biometrics procedure take more time than regular EAD renewal process?

7. If I go for E-filing, how long will it take for the entire process?

8. What is the general processing time for renewal of EAD (not through E-filing)?

YES

Ans is ii - i.e. 6 months only

3. How early should I apply for EAD renewal? I have got 2 different information-
a. 3 months before the expiry of my current EAD

b. 6 months before the expiry of my current EAD

I read it is not supposed to be filed before 120 days - so four months.

4. Is E-filing safe to renew my EAD?
Yes

5. If I go for E-filing, should I go for Biometrics?
They will mail you a biometrics appt letter after efiling - you ahve to go to the USCIS center for photos.


6. Will the E-filing + Biometrics procedure take more time than regular EAD renewal process?

Cant say . The biometrics has one advantage that they will take the photo for you, so less chance of your own photos being rejected.


7. If I go for E-filing, how long will it take for the entire process?
They promise before 90 days


8. What is the general processing time for renewal of EAD (not through E-filing)?

90 days i guess.
