I am requesting Transcript of Tax Return for period prior 3 years and request answer to question No. 6 on the above cited form:

6 Transcript requested. Enter the tax form number here (1040, 1065, 1120, etc.) and check the appropriate box below. Enter only one tax form
number per request. ©
a Return Transcript, which includes most of the line items of a tax return as filed with the IRS. A tax return transcript does not reflect
changes made to the account after the return is processed. Transcripts are only available for the following returns: Form 1040 series,
Form 1065, Form 1120, Form 1120A, Form 1120H, Form 1120L, and Form 1120S. Return transcripts are available for the current year
and returns processed during the prior 3 processing years. Most requests will be processed within 10 business days . . . . . .
b Account Transcript, which contains information on the financial status of the account, such as payments made on the account, penalty
assessments, and adjustments made by you or the IRS after the return was filed. Return information is limited to items such as tax liability
and estimated tax payments. Account transcripts are available for most returns. Most requests will be processed within 30 calendar days. .
c Record of Account, which is a combination of line item information and later adjustments to the account. Available for current year and3 prior tax years. Most requests will be processed within 30 calendar days . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

What do I need to fill out for all above questions?

Thanks!

You're requesting your tax transcripts, so you would check box 6a and indicate 1040 for the years you need.

Thanks Bobsmyth,
As per 6a (Return transcripts are available for the current year and returns processed during the prior 3 processing years.). It implies that I can get Transcript for 2009 and (2008,2007,2006). Means, I can't get transcripts prior to 2006. Right? If yes, is that enough for Interview?

Thanks again,

Hi,

Your best bet would be call them up and order-up the transcipts over the phone instead of sending the 4506-T. It is easier and you would receive them in timely manner. I did the same by calling 1-800-829-1040. Because you can't order transcipt for 2005, you can tell the representative that you need a summary document instead of Transcipt for 2005. For the last 4 years, you can use automated phone system, but for 2005, you will have to talk to the representative. Good luck.

Why are you applying to get your transcripts? Is your US residency in question?

Nope,
I was going through a thread that mentions documents to carry while attaending interview. Its mentioned to take tax return scripts for last 3-5 years. I am trying to meet that requirement. Though my GC is NOT marriage based.

The thread you mentioned is an all inclusive list of documents USCIS can ask for.
However, some documents are only requested in certain circumstances. For example, tax transcripts are typically only asked for instances where continuous residency was resumed broken, failure to pay past taxes, claimed to be non-resident on tax form, or verification of marital union for marriage based applications. If your case doesn't fit these circumstances then you're going out of your way to obtain something USCIS most likely won't even ask for at your interview.

Thanks Bobsmyth,
All the possible reasons you mentioned does NOT apply to my case. I have stayed continuously in US (Just had 2 trips for 32 days in last 11 years), paid taxes every year, GC is employment based.. So, I would not worry about tax scripts now.

Thanks again!
