Request for more evidence notice for I-485..

Hi everyone ,


Today i`ve received a request notice for more evidence on my i-485 case which asking me in order to complete my adjustment of status i should submit a complete form I-864 , I-864A afidavit of support . I don`t understand one thing , i taught that these type of document are supposed to be submitted during the interview . Did anybody experience the same situation ? If yes please give some details on what fallowed after submitted the documents . On top the notice they give me 87 days to submit all the evidences or my case would be denied . I don`t understand i only filed the I-485 one month ago ....Please help ....

Everything these days needs to be submitted upfront. I thought that the 485 required this anyways. Also, if you have not, do send your medical stuff too...

You have to submit I-864/I-864A with the I-485. You got an RFE because you did not submit those. Your case would be put on hold till they receive the affidavit of support documents and once they get it, they would start processing your case.

Thank you for letting me know , i taught there was something wrong with my case . These are the new procedures as i understand is that meam that a interview wont really be issued to me since they are usually give the apointement just to review your afidavit of support and stamp the passport ?
I know some people who received they green card directly in the mail without having to go to an interview . I hope this would be a simular . Thanks a lot

This is not a new procedure. In the USCIS website explains that part of the Adjustment of Status packet is the Affidavit of Support. The affidavit tells them if you won't be a charge for the goverment and your sponsor can support you for the time being.

The interview for marriage cases is to check out if the marriage is bona fide. They can check in the interview every document that you sent (you should keep a packet with original documents and another with copies if they want another set), others documents that they can ask during the interview are joint bank accounts, pictures, etc.

I know some people who received they green card directly in the mail without having to go to an interview . I hope this would be a simular . Thanks a lot

Every case is different, from employment authorization through family based. It is my understanding that everybody with marriage based AOS must go through an interview.

i think probably the 245(i) cases are not really interviewed...

In another forum they told me that usually these type of interview are for usc marriage based case which are process more faster then a regular GC holder case . Normaly the GC holder case are not qualified to adjust status in the united states if they are violated they status . With the 245(i) provision they are penalized and allowed to adjust status in the states . I`m just wondering now if there is something to do with it because i beleive that every other person on this website didn`t filed the I-485A which is the LIFE ACT 2000 provision . And another person had similar case then mine received the same notice and sent everything than got his case approved within weeks and received the GC in the mail without interview notice. If there is somebody in that forum with a 245(i) please post your experience because i beleived that these cases are being handle differently then the regular 245A . We waited almost 5 years before we could have our status adjust and some of them are still waiting 10 years . ( me i waited a total of 4 1/2 years before adjusting status . For the USC cases they are being process within six months . For the extra stuff at the interview like bank account joint i think i`m not yet qualify for it since i did not obtain any social security card within the last past 5 years . Therefore any bank wanted to let my wife have a joint account with me . All that i can provide them is some pictures . I would really appreciat if a 245(i) person who obtain his adjustment of status post his experience and will compare and trying to understand that provision law of the LIFE act . Thanks
