quick question: when you applied for AOS soon after you got married to your USC wife, how long did it take from the time you sent in your application to the time they approved your application and received your conditional card? how was the interview? what kind of docs did you have to present to prove your marriage is legit?
It took approximately one and ahalf year. However, the process is much faster now, as mine was done back in 1999. I think it should take about 4-8 months now depending on your DO. Once approved. It takes about 30 days to receive the conditional card.

The interview was kind of tough though to be honest with you. It was in the INS (back then) special department in Nashville Airport. It was a room full of guns and officers with guns. It was a separate interview. The let me in first, asked me questions while my waife waited outside. Once the officer was done with me, he asked me to call my wife in. However, the officer was nice, once convinced, he stamped my passport right then and there "temporary evidence of I-551".

also, 90 days prior to the 2 years of your conditional card, i assumed you applied for a waiver of the conditional status and that's when you received your GC without condition. is that correct?
Yes, exactly. And it took almost 11 and a half month to get the approval. then, two weeks after that i got the actual card in the mail

you also mentioned you were able to travel out of the country for 3 months after your AP was approved. so when you went out of the country, you only had your AP approval and your conditional GC and you didn't have a problem with your travel?
I left the country four months after marriage. However, I didn't even have the temporary Green Card yet. I only applied for advance parole and got it within 10 days. I only used that parole to travel along with my passport. I didn't face any problems.

If you need something else , let me know. Are those question pertain to yourself?

thanks for your very detailed replies. i really appreciate it. it's sorta pertains to me. however, i'm on the other end (like your wife -- USC). i'm waiting for my citizenship to be processed but my fiance' is the one like on your end (F-1). we are waiting to get married until i become a USC so the application will go smoothly. since when my family and i were petitioned, i was single. and when i applied for citizenship, i'm still single. so we thought so not to complicate things, we would wait to get married until i become a USC. so no changes to make when my interview comes.

i know you experienced it first-hand, however, i have read somewhere that if someone falls out of status and marries USC, even with an AP approved, it's still not guarantee that you won't have a hard time coming back. is that true? but in your case, you said you didn't even have your temporary GC (i'm assuming it was the temporary GC before you received your conditional GC). you only had your AP approval and your passport and you didn't have any problems.

In my case, i didn't have any problem at all! I could be just lucky and other people face issues , i am not sure, i cannot generalize, you know how USCIS , they are moody, they have no pattern.
There is no difference between temporary GC and Conditional GC as far as what i posted.
FIrst , you get her AP, then, she would get temp. GC for 2 years, then the permanent GC.

You need anything else, just holler at me my man! :)

thanks for the info, sony55.

when you applied for the waiver of conditions on your GC 90 days prior to its expiration, you said it took about 11 and a half months for the approval and then about 2 weeks later, you received the actual GC without conditions. then your conditional GC had expired already since it took more than 90 days. what was your proof with an expired conditional GC? did they extend the expiration for another year or so after you applied for waiver of conditions while waiting for approval?

Good question,
Once you apply for removal of conditions, you should receive the notice of action (receipt). On that receipt, it stated that my status has been extended for one more year, employment authorized. This receipt should serve as a proof of your status.

Anything else you need , i am ready man.
