Replacing GC after long absence - please HELP

Hi,

I'm a 32-year old foreign national. When I was 15 (in 1990) I was issued with a GC. A couple of years later my family and I moved out of the US and I have only been back for regular but brief visits since then.

I'd like to file an I-90 to replace this GC to live and work in the US again. Do I stand a chance? Would filing online be a suitable road to go down? What are the next steps after filing? I'm in England at the moment.

You abandoned your residence when you were an adult, and therefore you need to start again from scratch.

Thanks for the reply RC.

I was 16 when I left the US for Europe. Can the fact that as a minor I had no choice but to follow my parents and leave not play a helpful part in regaining my GC?

A further question, if anyone can point me in the right direction: where is a good place to search for employers that might sponsor a visa for me to return to live and work in the US? I have a master's in mechanical engineering.
