Rentry Permit 2nd time

My parents got LPR in Feb 2007 and arrived in May 2007 were here for 4 months and applied for rentry permit in Aug 2007 and then left to india. Permit came in 2008 and was valid till 2010, april, 10. Now they arrived back on April 2 2010 and now I am applying for another 2 years rentry permit. They both have got operated for knee surgery in india and need ongoing physical therapy from the hospital that did the surgery plus other medical conditions. My question is will there be any problem in getting the rentry permit again second time now ? Also, last time when they applied there was no appointment for finger prints for the I-131 but I dont know if they will need one this time ? Do you need FP for LPR rebtry permits ?

There will be a biometric appointment this time, so they should stay until that is done, after which you can have the RP sent to a consulate abroad or to your address in the US from where you can post it to them. It is up to CIS whether the RP will be issued for 1 or 2 years, or if it issued at all given your parents' lack of residency in the US, so you'll have to take a chance. Otherwise, consider asking them to abandon their GCs officially and apply for B2 visas, since they don't live (and may not plan to?) live in the US.
