rental car or flight?

In order to go landing from US and come back, which option is better, driving a rental car from an US city near the border (such as Seattle) or flying to the Canada city (say, Vancouver) directly?

Can you experts help me?

I also wonder if there is any hard city/border for the landing process, I mean, will the officer ask tough questions?

Whatever option you feel is good. Flying is also not a matter. If you are staying in some city near the border, you can drive your own car to canada.
