Renouncing US citizenship

I became US citizen by naturalisation.
Now is it possible to renounce US citizenship and get back Indian Citizenship (by birth Indian)?
What's the process and waiting period?

Why do you want to do that? Do you plan to seek government job or run for political office or join the armed forces?
You cannot simply re-acquire Indian citizenship. You are required to live in India for 7+ years (OCI holders require 1 year stay in India and have to hold OCI for 5 years) before you are eligible for Indian citizenship.

Couple of days back you were asking about becoming US Citizen.
You became citizen in two days ? :-)
 
Then a few days later he might ask for how to apply for H1B :-(

ALso hurry up. In a few weeks DoS is going to charge some $4xx for renouncing US citizenship. Currently it is gratis.

exactly...i need to understand all eventualities before I take these steps (its' BIG decision)
the reason i was asking bec' i m planning to take govt job there....

We can only help if we get a full picture. Are you applying for USC, or are you already USC? If you are a PR, the tax situation is past your control as you should have been paying US taxes already. Explain, and we can discuss more.
