Renewing EAD Question

If a person gets laid off while on EAD with Adjustment Status, can they renew their EAD even though they are not working at the time of renewal? Is EAD tied to current emploment or is it available to anyone who is in the adjustment status? Also do they ask for current employment proof when they approve your 485?
 
EAD is not tied to the employer...

YOu can apply for renewal. At the time of approval there is a chance that you might called for an interview. If called you need an employment offer letter.
