My EAD is expiring in Jan '09 and I am planning to renew online.

Are there any pros & cons in applying renewal online vs. sending them through lawyer ?

What are the urls where I can apply for my EAD renewal

Yes there are. On line, you will pay the fees only (if applicable), with lawyer you have to pay in addition lawyer fees. The chance of mistakes in application is the same because you are the one who provide the information on line or to lawyer. Online you will do biometrics in nearby center (may be hundreds of miles from your place), by lawyer you will not (suppose he send you paper based, which stil you can do yourself, not online). At the end if you can do it yourself (it is an easy application for many, hard to few others) just do it.
NB: If you are H visa, you do not even need to renew your EAD, it is an optional and has nothing to do with your pending GC application and you can do it even if your current one expire, but if you are using EAD for work, it is important to keep it valid.

The web page is www.uscis.gov and go to forms, form I765 and follow instructions and post in this forum if you have any questions if you elect to do it yourself

Thanks for the reply.

- I had a valid H1B (797) untill 2010, but did not have a visa stamped in my passport.

- This year in August I went to India for about 6 weeks and during my re-entry to USA in POE i showed them my EAD/AP

Does this invalidate my H1B (797) ?

EAD is not required at all for travel, AP is
If you use AP to re-enter, there is a trick here: You are not H anymore, but you can still continue working with your employer as H and even you can extend the H before expiration. But if you file any form just write your status as parolee (not H).
To make it easy for you and the answer simple, yes you can still be on H with the same employer and you do not even need to renew the EAD and keep valid AP if you need to travel again (again AP and EAD are optional to be used for work and travel, respectively with nothing to do on your status)
