Should be OK ?!
My EAD expired on 10/21/2002 and I am thinking of filing exten soon. I don't think there is any LAW that says that you must file before 180 days of expiration. You should be able to file exten as long as you have not used EAD and your status is OK. In my case I am still in H1B. Just a opinion. Check with your attorney.
