Renewal of Green Card

Hi,

My wife's GC is going to expire in next 3 months. It was originally issued for 10 years. Can someone please let me know the process to renew the GC and how long would it take? If it takes longer than 3 months, is she going to be out of status? Should we apply for her citizenship along with the GC renewal?

Go to google and search for "renewing US 10-year green card ." Your question should be answered. However, don't you think applying for US citizenship is better? She would have less restrictions on her stay in the USA.

Thanks Yemroy for the quick response! She is not yet decided whether to take the citizenship or not. Since we just have 3 months left before GC expires, we are thinking to apply for her citizenship if GC renewal takes longer than 3 months and if for some reason she becomes out of status. Any idea how long the GC renewal takes? Are we too late to apply for her GC renewal?

She does not go out of status if her 10 year green card expires. She will still be a legal permanent resident. No point in spending dollars for renewing the green card if she plans to apply for citizenship soon.
