Renewal of EAD and AP

Hi all,
My EAD And AP will expire 24th of January, 2004. I have to file a renewal application to VSC. How soon should i file the application? How long is it currently taking for these applications to be processed?
Please let me know.

My old EAD and AP expires on 9/5/2003 and I applied for the renewal in June and got the EAD and AP in July. My new EAD and AP expires on 09/05/2004 even though it got approved in July.
