Renew H1 Stamping

Hello,

I am trying to take a H1 renewal interview appointment at Hyderabad consulate in November. My old H1 expired in Oct 2008 and my I-797 is valid till Oct 2011. So for the question below :

Are you applying for the same class of visa which is currently valid or has expired within the past 12 months ?

Do i need to select Yes or No ? Is my visa considered valid . Can I get renewal stamping at Kolkatta ?

I would say yes, as you have valid visa. You only need stamping to enter US.

I am also going thro' the same process and have one question. I have prior H1 visa stamp that is expired in Feb 2009 and current H1 visa is valid till Sep 2011. What does the visa number in the DS-160 form mean?? It is the control number on the visa stamp??
