Renew Green Card!

hi

i was wondering if we can still file the I-90 (the forum to renew expiring green card) in-person at the local service office?
i have read in couple of sites on the net that submiting in person is the way to renew green card, yet on the the guide to filing I-90, they ask you to mail the fourm.

And if i am to mail in the I-90 forum, do i have to obtain a temporary proof of perminant residency (for traveling or applying for jobs)?

--------------------------------you have to mail the form I-90 and once get I-90 filing reciept then go to local office with infopass and get your passport stamped
