Renew expired H1B

I have a H1B visa issued to me by my company, that expired on April 5, 2008. I have worked in the US for 3 months in 2007 and then came back to India. I want to know if the visa can be renewed now?
If yes, I also want to know if it can be renewed by any company other than the company that applied for it initially(filed my petition)? What would be the procedure for it?

------------------as you dont have H1 extension approved you cant get Visa renewed.

-------new US company should file H1 with USCIS and after approval then you can get Visa based on new approval notice.
What would be the procedure for it?

-New US employer need to file H1 petition with USCIS and once approved then you can get visa if US employer has job for you in US.
