Hi everyone, it would be really helpful if i can get any advice and help in this forum.
I have my court date for the immigration judge this month. I have seen several attorneys but they
are charging too much and the free legal aid help won't help me cause i don't live in los angeles area.
This is my situation:
I got me residency through my dad in May 2005 though his employer. I was 16 then.
in 2007 i got charged with a grand theft due to items total-ling over 500 in value. we returned everything though.
in 2009 i got charge with a petty theft shoplifted a cologne worth under 50.
when i went out of the country in 2010 i came back to LAX and was send to second inspection due to my 2 charges.
the border custom guard advice me to get them expunged and applied for citizenship that they were nothing major and i would be ok. I did expunge them in 2012 but never did my application for citizenship cause of my economical situation.
In 2012 i went out of the country again and this time when i came back i got send again to second inspection and
was told different they put me in removal proceedings cause of my two offenses telling me that it was crime involving moral turpitude. I was paroled back in the country and needed to wait for my court date to see the immigration judge.
Two attorneys have told me i can apply for cancellation of removal for PR that i qualify.
Do i qualify? can i submit my application myself? what can i do?
Another attorney told me that i won't qualify cause according to my crimes they reset my time as PR
so i don't have 5 years as a permanent residence due to my to offenses in 07 and 09.
Is this true? i need help attorneys are telling me different things.
Another one said i would qualify for adjustment of status cause i am married to a us citizen now in 2012.
I'm in difficult economical situation so i would like advice in what i can do to in my case?
If i can submit any applications on my own, ask the judge if i can submit them on my own?
any help would help a lot. I appreciate if you do maybe there's similar cases like mine out there that would help.
