Relocation Issue

My company is going to relocate me from a southern state to a northern state. I got my labor certificate last year and filed my I-140 in Dec. The lawyer told me I have to restart doing my labor certificate again because of the move, but I can still keep my priority date once my I-140 is approved. Does this mean I need to stay and wait my I-140 approved to keep the priority date and move later?
Thanks

Attorney made a mistake

He should have filed the case using job location on PERM application = HQ of your company. You can always say that you will come back to that location once GC is approved. Labor Petition is for the salary, skills and job location and GC is approved for that.

Infact why don't you tell that Lawyer that you will return to that location once GC is given to you. Maybe you can tell your comp that you can work remotely from the existing location when GC is approved. That way you do not have to redo everything.

Remember GC is for the future job................

I agree with scatcat. You should not restart labor. Once your 140 is approved and you are ready to file for 485, your company just needs to give you a letter that you will be located at that place in the future. In fact, who knows, you may already get relocated again, by then
