Relocating back to India?

Hi friends,

We recieved our citizenship. As per our plan, we are seriously considering to move back to India (Mohali).

We have been living in US for past 10 years and have no idea about Indian Job market and housing market. Though we visit india every other year. But still, that does not give any clue about the salary etc.

My question to you all is. With a software industry experience of 10 years (all in USA) as a software developer and a project lead, how much salary can I expect when I move back to Mohali/Chandigarh?

Another question is, how much do you think a decent 3 bedroom house or flat will cost in Mohali/CHD in a "not so very costly" locality.

I know these are very vague questions and there is no single answer to this. But I just want to get an idea.

Hi, with 10 year s/w experience you should get 15 to 20 lacs/year offer in Bangalore or Hyderabad. I am not sure about cost of living aspect for Mohali, but I feel it should be around the same range. I am sure you must have done your home work and well prepared (Done some certifications such as PMP to qualify for PM level). One other advise is to give interviews from US. I have seen some of my friends getting good offers while giving interviews from US.

Good luck and I personally feel you have taken a good decision. I am still waiting for my GC!!
