Religious Workers Extension

October 3, 2003

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted yesterday to extend the religious worker category for an additional five years.

The bill is expected to be voted upon by the full Senate within the next few days.

The category expired on September 30, 2003

Hey, this is good.

first they would say sunset and expedite the processing and complete everything. then someone else would come along and say, no no no, it is sunsrise and extend for another 5 years.

To me the whole thing is quixotic, what say...

I guess that's why they call it a "sunset". Of course, there is always a "sunrise" following this.

This is the most annoying news i got today!!

Relax! This only means that the Religious visa category will not be banned . They will be in the same queue as all of us. Doesn't talk of a sunset so far so guess it wont have much effect, except that Religious workers can file for GC as all of us .

If only they had extended this before, there wouldn't have been any sunset and they probably have processed normal 485 at that speed and reduced some backlog.

But extension only had to happen after sunset.

Are you sure - you will get approved by five years later ?
USCIS never guaranteed EB I-485 would be a priority after sunset of Religious Workers.

Is BCIS planning on turning this freaking country into a temple..?

I have a strong feeling that US will be like Tibet by 2010....
