Hello everyone

I was raised in a Muslim country but I grew up in North America. I have been Christian for last 1 year and currently I do have fear of going back to my country to visit my parents. That is why I am planning to apply for Asylum. My questions are as following
1- Do you guys know any remarkable immigration lawyer in New York City area?
2- Is there anything that can strengthen my case?
3- Is there anything that I am supposed to know?
I am not trying to fake anything. Please take that into the considerations. Thank you. Wish you guys a lovely day.

I think this Is not enough info to help you out.for how long you been living in us?do you also have citizenship
Of the North American country where you were living?

Hello

I have been living in U.S. for 3 years and I am not carrying any other North American country citizenship. Thank you

Be aware that applying for asylum after the one year period is not helping ur case.your chances to be granted at AO are very very low.but let's ear from others who have been thru the one year thing.
Good luck

The one year bar applies to you only if your illegal. If you are in a legal status then it is one of the extraordinary circumstance to let the AO not worry about the 1 year bar. I know three people who got approved applying after 3 years, 4 years and 2.5 yrs. They all were in status though and when the AO asked the reason, they simply said they didn't got time to apply while maintaining their status.

I don't understand the 1 year barrier. Does this mean the # of years which I have spent in USA without living the country? Or it indicates the time of entrance prior to applying? Thank youuuuu
