rejected fingerprints

Hi all I just recently had my fingerprints done. A few were rejected when the technician was doing them. Now does this mean that I will have to redo them? I asked her what the problem was and she said that my prints were worn away (I do physical labor). Do the FBI need all 10 prints?

If the FBI rejects your prints you'll be scheduled for a 2nd FP. If your prints are once again rejected, you'll then need to provide police records from the areas you have lived in the last 5 years at interview.
Try using hand lotion daily for a week before scheduled 2nd FP to increase chances they will be accepted.

Thanks for the reply Bobsmyth. I hope they accept them. I had troubles with when they "roll" the finger. The "flat" print was fine, but when they were rolling my fingers that is when the computer kept on saying "reject". How long does it take for the FBI to pass the fingerprints?

Fingerprints take a day, and in the olden days people used to be able to call FBI and check whether their processing was complete (they will not tell whether it passed or failed or anything). However, there might be other steps in processing which usually results in a few weeks gap before USCIS gets in touch with you.
