I have filed my I485 in sept 2005. Will this regress in priority dates affect my Green card processing? I am under the impression that Priority date is required to file I-485 application. Once you file 485 it doesn't matter priority date is current or regressed.

My priority date is july 2005 and I have filed my 485 in sept 2005. My application is in EB2 category. right now priority date for EB2 category is 8th jan 2003. When will they open my application file and start processing? when PD becomes current or anytime from now not depending on PD?

Please clarify.

Thanks,
Mandar

Your priority date must be current both to file the I-485, and to have it approved. If it regresses while the adjustment is pending then you remain in status and can renew the EAD/AP, but it cannot be approved until the priority date becomes current again.

You filed I-485 with your PD is NOT current ?? Wowww...

I filed my I-485 in sept 2005 when the priority date was current. But immediately after that it got regressed. AS the per the privous answer I have one more questions. Suppose priority date becomes current and they open my file and next day it immediately get regressed then will they stop looking at my file till it becomes current ?

What do you guys think how many years will priority date take to come to july 2005?

Priority dates don't jump around from day to day. They change month to month, with a good 15-20 days' advance notice. But yes, if your date is current one month and no longer current in the next, if your case does not get ajudicated by the end of the month it goes back on the shelf.
