Are we suppose to take Passport along with Green Card at all times?

I don\'t think the card alone is enough to go to Canada
because it does not indicate your citizenship
(only country of birth)

Anyways, I have been getting both answers....
 -- Passport Required.
 -- Passport NOT Required.

The reason I am asking this question is because...
I live close to CANADA and feel like visting the country, since I recd my PR card, I would avoid carrying the Passport as far as possible.

At the border, they looked at the card, but not asked for the Passport, but it was with me.

They may ask, so take it.

Hi All, If I have Passport stamping (but not yet received the card), can I travel outside of US and reenter with my Passport alone ?

Passport is your legal document

The passport that you carry is you legal documentation. The GCis only a valid document that is issued for use by the US. Other countries may or maynot recognize the GC, but is required by international law to recognize the passport.
If anything goes wrong with you in Canada, your passport is the only document that can get you access to your Embassy in Canada, who can provide you with help.
