regarding employment agreement

I came to US thru NJ employer with the condition of 18 months of contract or
2000$ per mo penalty for the remaining months. I was on bench for 2 months initially and then got a project
which turned out to be just 5 weeks long. I feared of going back to bench again, so found another employer
in another state.
Now NJ employer has summoned me a NJ court notice.
I have a few questions

1) Is the agreement, which I signed in NJ, applicable in other states?
2) If I loose a case in NJ court, is the ruling applicable in other states?
3) How much does it cost for an employer to file a case/issue a summons of court? any estiamte?
4) Where do I stand and what are my options?

Your employer loose the case if you document that you are not paid two months, and inform labor & USCIS and represent your case with an attorney.(going to cost you lot of money). But you can do it differently without cost too.

But your agreement must be perused inbetween lines.

Usually agreements (LAWS) are governed by enitre US
Unless more info available, i can not give any thing more than a general advise.
