regarding ds-230 needed help please

hello

i was sending my form of ds-230 to u.s to choice of agent

had a doubt

my ex father divorced my mom long back and now in all my certificates he is not mentioned late including the passport but in my g-325 form my husb made me write late to his name

i want to remain consistent with his name as late in ds-230 form too but my question is that they ask the date when he died

can i just mention as UNKNOWN in the form they ask the date and year he deceased ?

will this create problem or should i write any date
pls advice ,

I wouldn't write any date. I think 'unknown' is fine, as I'm sure it happens a lot. My wife for instance hardly knows anything about her biological father since he left her mother when she was still a baby, so when we filled out her form, we put his name and put 'unknown' for the things we simply don't know (DOB, current residence etc).
