Hello!

I have recently sent paperwork to Chennai consulate through my attorney last month.
How long does it take to get an interview date?

Thanks in advance.

From your post, it looks like you are trying the AC 140 with Chennai.

Speaking from past experience with posts from other candidates I have to
say Chennai generally does not accept AC 140 cases.

Good luck anyway.

I am sorry.I am applying green crad for my husband through CP in Chennai.
Thanks

Yes. What I meant was, in the green card process you seem to have adopted a procedure called AC 140 or Attorney Certified 140.

In this process the candidate sends in the paperwork directly to the Consulate
without depending on the National Visa Center (NVC). This is usually done if
the I-140 was originally filed with the option '485' and after the approval the
candidate changes his/her mind and wants to go for the CP process.

This would also require filing of a form called I-824 to change the process from
'485' to 'CP'. Once the form I-824 is filed , the candidate then, with the help of the Attorney sends all the paperwork to the consulate to request an interview date.

Again some of the consulates do not react positively to the above process, and Chennai is one of them.

Try to assess your situation from what I said above.

Thanks Raju for your propmt reply.
I do not know if this makes a difference.
I got my green card in June of this year.
My husband was NOT a part of my I485 filing as he has just finished his J1 3 year obligation (he is currently on a H1B).He has just fulfilled his requirement.
I will be filing for CP for him for the very first time using my approval.
So this does not come under the AC 140.

Thanks

So is your husband in US or out of US. Are you filing for his GC after your GC was approved?
