Reg. Birth Certificate

My Birth Certificate mentions my date of birth and the registration date correctly. However it was issued to me on 1/20/2000 from B'by. This date is mentioned at the bottom of the certificate. Is this going to be a problem for my 485 processing?

Not clear enough

If you are saying that you got a birth certificate from govt authorities in Year 2000. and that is what you have given to INS with application of 485?
No there should be no problem with this. INS and Lawers are very well aware that several countries like India did not used to make and give birth certificate. Hence Other type of certification like School's birth certificates etc are also valid. In case you have got a proper one from some type of govt agency, even if it was issued later. It is OK.
I have never submitted any type of birth certificate, but the one from my school.

Get a certificate of Non availability

I had a similar issue. My birth was not registered until 2000.

My lawyer told me not to get a new one. He asked me to provide the certificate of Non availablity and affidavits from parents.

RAIDEN......

Raiden,

Why did your lawyer suggest not to get a new BC, and use affidavits instead.

My attorney, told me to go ahead and get a new BC issued 1 month before I applied for the 485. He thought the affidavits etc. would be more confusing to the INS and raise a RFE more possibly than a new BC would.

Different opinion

I do not have a lot of knowledge in this area to debate.

According to my lawyer, a BC will not be an issue if it was issued around the date of birth.

If it is not or later registered like in my case in 1998, he said the certificate of non availbility and affidavits from parents will do better instead of a getting a newly registered birth certificate.
