Refused to issue unrestricted Driver License

quick update to you guys

I finally got a 6 year DL.
It was not easy at all.
I had to really argue with them for some time because they (the DMV) were asking me to pay again the fee for their mistake.
Finally they acknowledged that it was plain wrong.

Guys

I was refused the regular DL as well.
I made the mistake of showing them that damn EAD.I should have never done it.
The stupid front person kept telling me that I could not get a normal DL.His supervisor knew no better either.
I called the state capital though and I have the number of the local supervisor.
I will try to explain it to him....hopefully it works.

Kalvar - glad you finally got it. Are are you in New York?

I couldn't get through to anyone at State capitol. they kept on telling me that they don't deal with such things. If you are in NY, could you tell me how you did it?

Thanks.

My friend

I called the customer service number that any State DMV office has.
I asked to talk to a supervisor. The first person I talked to transfered me to someone even higher cause she had no clue what was going on.

Go to the website of New York DMV.
I found this link http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/idlicense.htm#idpoints

at the bottom it says that If you are a refugee or an asylee, a supervisor at the DMV office must approve your documents.

My advice is call customer service first. Have them re-direct you to some field supervisor.I tried looking up their phone number but I can't find it. All I found is the address for CusService..Room 136
Swan Street Building
Empire State Plaza
Albany, NY
Hours: 8:30 - 3:45..
Good luck and let me know how it goes
