Is there anyone in the forum who has any information relating to refund of social security taxes paid, while on a work permit in the US. Can we claim back any of these taxes that were paid during our work tenure, after moving to Canada or any other country permanently.

If so what is the procedure?

Any replies greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Correct. You won't see this money again. As a consolation, however, your time contributing to US SS may be credited toward CPP benefits. I'm not sure if it applies to the time before you got PR, however, and it probably does nothing unless you are close to retiring anyway. You can check

for more info.
