Reentry using H4 visa stamp with valid H1

I have a H4 dependent visa stamp on my passport, and i applied for a H1 while i was in the US, which shall be effective from Oct 1, 2008.

I plan to go on vacation to india in september. Can i re-enter the US using my H4 visa stamp, instead of having to go to the embassy and getting a H1 visa stamp? Am i likely to have any issues with re entering the US?
 
Please check whether the I-94 associated with the H-4 visa during September re-entry overrides the I-94 with H-1. I would suggest you to go for H-1B stamping in September.
 
Wll Coming Back On H4 Stamp Void My H1

I am right now on my pre completion OPT and would need one more year to complete my phd. I got my H1 approved this year with a consulting company and has the I 94 stamp on my H1. But I want to finish my studies and want to start work then. In the meantime I have to be in India for some personal reasons and want to be back on H4. My husband also has his H1 starting Octobr 2008.

I would like to know if I can come back on H4 after october 1st ( when my H1 has also started) and finish my studies( which I know I can) and then can I use my pre approved H1 to start working at a later date in 2009.
In that case do I need to go out of the country and get my H1 stamped again even though my I 94 is on the H1 . Or will the H1 get void once I stamp H4 on the visa.
 
They usually void all visas before they issue a new one. Its without prejudice, just to make sure you don't enter with some other stamp if they found you inadmissible.
