hi
Q's reg Reentry permit

for a GC holder, is writing short term contract in the "reason for travel" better or something like
temporary stay in canada to oversee canadian operations sounds better?

also how many people got their REP rejected for one reason or other.

JoeF had incidcated he had an RFE for his REP appln. ( he filed electronically)
- how many people got an RFE for REP- by regular mail applications.

since the appln timeline is around 5 months - is it ok to put a date -a week from the appln date for the departure date. and leave a week form applying?
since it says u leaving the country wont affect ur appln.

if one gets into problems with POE -before the appln is approved - can we show some proof indicating u already applied for REP? - if so what proof should we show them? - is there any advantages with this.
i assume the info wont be in the computer untill they process ur form- which is 5 months from the time of appln

thanks

I don't see much difference here.

I have applied for an REP twice, the first time by mail the second time on-line. Both times the application was approved with no RFEs.

Yes, I think that's fine. The important thing is that you should be in the U.S. at the time the application is submitted.

I don't know about this. Certainly by that time you will have a receipt notice from USCIS about your REP application with a case-number on it and presumably the immigration officers at the border will have access to that information (for on electronic REP application you get a receipt notice and a case number on-line at the time you submit the application).

However, chances are, if there is a problem with your application, it will probably occur before 1 year has passed since your leaving the U.S.
After absences of less than a year a reentry permit is not required to be allowed back in the U.S.; your GC will suffice. So if some serious problem does occur, you can come back to the U.S. and try to fix it here.
