Reentry permit - being in the US

Hey -

In order to apply for reentry permit you need to be physically present in the US.

Reentry permit application can be filed electronically.

I plan to do the following:
- File on Monday - when I am still in the US
- On Tue mail the supporting docs. Leave that day on Tue

So it is technically filed on Mon - but the supporting docs will reach USCIS say on Thu or Fri when I will be out of the US. Is that a problem?

Also - I have a question. Let's assume you E-file I-131 on Tue at 1 P.M. and then leave at 6 P.M. the same day. You still meet the criteria that at the time of filing 1 P.M. on Tue you were physically in the US.

Generally USCIS considers documents to be filed when they receive them, not when you send them (exception is naturalization where they consider the postmark). I wouldn't cut things so close if I was you.

My question relates to electronic filing though. They issue a receipt for a filed application at say 1 P.M. and you leave the US at 6 P.M.

The problem with electronic filing is that you will never know when they will receive supporting docs because they will only issue a receipt notice for filing the application.

Can someone help?

reentry permit - are fingerprints required?

I'm filing for reentry permit for my parents. I was reading the instructions for I-131? It says the following:
"Departure from the United States before a decision is made on an application for a reentry permit does not affect the application. However, departure from the United States should not occur before your biometrics(fingerprints) have been taken."
Do they call you for fingerprints? What if you leave the country right after filing? I thought they already have your finger prints, part of GC process.

Thanks much!

Hı guys and girls
to continue with the same subject I have read in USCIS pages that in order to put reentry application in you have to stay in U.S.A more than a month or so .
İs this right ?
So I don't think you can apply before you get your actual green card while you are in states .
I think you should write down your GC # in the application form. Therefore you should receive your GC at first -as far as I know that takes 20 to 30 days -later you will apply for reentry permission.Otherwise your cannnot apply correctly .

Any comments please ..
