Reducing number of hours after getting green card.

Last month (July 2007) my wife’s 485 is approved and we all received green cards. Now she is working 40 hours per week. Because we have two little kids she wants to reduce to 37 hours per week. As per her company policy 35 hours per week is fulltime. I am not sure how many hours per week mentioned in her green card LC and I-140 petitions.

If 40 hours per week mentioned in LC and/or I-140 petition and if she reduce to number of hours to 37 per week, is there any impact on green card or we encounter any issues when we apply citizenship?

work for a month or 2 for 40 hrs/week so that you have paychecks to show you worked on the permanent full time employment offered by the employer and and the pay promised on the LC. note that this MAY be important only if uscis is really particular that you performed the "same" permanent job that the employer offered in sponsoring the green card. therefore you just need some kind of good-faith evidence to show intent to accept and perform the permanent job for which you were sponsored. as long as you have that you are good.

also note that if the pay for 35 hrs/week is greater than pay offered in LC, then you may not even want to wait for those few paychecks (unless of course your pay check notes the number of hours worked).

finally, if feasible, you may want to explore work-from-home options for at least a few hours/week. your employer may be amenable to that.

as with most/all other opinions on this forum, this is just my personal opinion, not legal fact. i personally have not gone through the naturalization stage yet, so this is only based on my limited understanding of the process. so act accordingly.
