Recv'd Intital Interview for AOS in Garden City, NY!

Today I received a NOA stating " REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INTIAL INTERVIEW" - towards AOS.

I am cautiously elated since I think I have already been called for an interview for AOS but at the same time, since I filed from Long Island in NY recently (see timeline below), I am unable to understand how come I already rec'd an interview call, when people who filed back in 2002 are still awaiting a call.

1. Can anyone advise what is this "INITIAL Interview" all about? Should I be expecting more than 1 interview? My NOA also states that I need to bring a whole slew of documents all related to the GC process.

2. How come when most of the NY applicants are reqd to goto Federal Plaza office in Manhattan , I have been asked to goto the USCIS Garden City office in Long Island, NY?

Can anyone please advise on what has happened here?

I THINK the initial interview is a standard title...I have the same title on my letter but havent gone to the interview yet since the date is still two weeks away. Also the letter has the list of all required documents as you mentioned. Hopefully someone else who has completed their interview will be able to confirm that.
 
Hey I'm also doing my interview in Garden City in the end of Feb 06. I see that most people are going to their interview 1 month after their are notified, i have to wait 4 months, but its all good.
